June is Off-Road Safety Month in Canada – a nationwide event aimed at promoting the safe and responsible use of off-road vehicles including All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).
The initiative encourages riders of all ages to prioritize safety while enjoying off-road adventures.
“Equipping ourselves with the proper knowledge, wearing the right protective gear, and respecting the terrain significantly reduces the risk of incidents,” said Jackie Barbe, National Manager, Vehicle Programs, Canada Safety Council.
“A safe ride is an enjoyable ride. Let’s prioritize safety and make every off-road adventure a memorable one for the right reasons.”
The Canada Safety Council is offering the following safety tips:
- Wear Proper Protective Gear
- Always wear a DOT-approved helmet, goggles, gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and over-the-ankle boots to protect against injuries. High-visibility clothing is also recommended to enhance visibility to others.
- Take an ATV Safety Course
- Conduct Pre-Ride Inspections
- Know Your Limits
- Supervise Young Riders
- Stick to Designated Trails
