Driving for work is the leading cause of job-related deaths in the US every year, according to figures from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The most recent data reveals there were 2,066 fatal injuries from transportation incidents in 2022, making up nearly 38 percent of the total job-related fatalities that year and a rise of just over four percent from 1,982 in 2021.
However, despite consecutive increases in the number of deaths in 2021 and 2022, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics show transportation incidents are still down 2.6 percent from pre-pandemic levels in 2019 when there were 2,122 fatalities.
