After a “horror week” in which 15 lives were lost on Queensland roads, RACQ is pleading with drivers to drive safely.
RACQ spokesperson Clare Hunter said the latest fatalities were a tragic but important reminder to drivers to make a conscious effort to drive safely every day.
“These crashes not only claim lives, they also bring a lifetime of devasting ripple effects for families and communities, and traumatic mental and physical scars for survivors,” said Hunter. “We all have a right to feel safe on our roads and must play our part – it starts with each motorist taking the responsibility of driving seriously, every time we get behind the wheel.
“Remembering the Fatal Five could save a life or serious injury. Never allow yourself to speed, drive while tired or affected by drugs or alcohol, avoid distractions like your mobile phone, and make sure everyone is buckled up.”
