More than a quarter of Canadians admit to reading text messages while driving, and many Canadians seem unaware of the rising impact of their cell phone addictions, according to a recent survey by InsuranceHotline.com.
The survey found that 26 percent of Canadians regularly check their text messages while driving, and 41 percent have checked messages while stopped at a light.
However, Canadians seem to be more alert to the risks when sitting in the passenger seat. Three-quarters of survey respondents said they feel unsafe when the driver takes a call or responds to a text while driving.
It’s not just calls and texts that are distracting drivers; three percent of survey respondents admitted to watching movies while driving.
